Whistler has wowed us during both the winter and the summer, and we look forward to spring and fall visits in the future. As outdoorsy, active people, there are so many adventures to be had in Whistler year round that it is one of our favorite places to vacation.

Our Favorite Activities
When it comes to winter in Whistler, it should go without saying that skiing is one of our preferred outdoor adventures. We love the fact that there are two neighboring mountains, Whistler and Blackcomb, with so much skiable terrain. There are over 8,000 acres to ski, and the mountains are low altitude so there is no adjustment period for acclimatizing. Snowshoeing is another favorite activity of ours in the winter. Taking in the fresh air and beauty of the mountains and forests is an experience too amazing to put into words.
During a summer visit to Whistler, cross country biking is a highlight for me; it is an excellent way to get exercise and see the sights. My husband loves Whistler Mountain Bike Park for the crazy double black trails. I enjoy the lift ride up the mountain, but I am a bit of a wimp and only ride down on the more open green trails. Kayaking the River of Golden Dreams is another experience no one should miss; the scenery is truly breathtaking. I always enjoy stand up paddle boarding in the picturesque lakes in the area too.

Our Favorite Places to Stay
There are many Whistler hotels from which to choose, but we do have a favorite for each season. Pan Pacific Whistler Village Centre with its perfect location just two minutes from the gondolas, and its slope-side valet to take care of skis, is our choice for winter visits. I love the warmth of a fire in the suite’s fireplace (every suite has one) after a day out on the slopes. Before retiring to our suite, we like to enjoy the outdoor heated pool; it is a saltwater pool; how awesome is that?
Our choice for a stay in the summer is Nita Lake Lodge. It is directly on Nita Lake, and the suites have spectacular views of the lake or the mountains. We get to canoe, kayak, and paddle board when we stay here because the lodge has complimentary rentals of all three. I love the views of wilderness and wildlife in and around the lake when we are out on the tranquil water. My husband enjoys doing some fishing too. It is also only a five-minute shuttle ride from the lodge to Whistler Village for biking and other summer activities.
Our Next Visit
The next time we vacation in Whistler, I would like to take a tour or two. The zip-lining and float plane tours sound especially exciting. Walking across suspended bridges, logs, and cargo nets during a Whistler tree adventure tour sound awesome too.
