Sarah Palin's Regional Dialect

I just came across an article about regional dialects on entitled " Where Y'All From?" This article talks about various regional dialects and mentions Sarah Palin's Alaskan dialect specifically. In the article Steven Weinberger, a linguistics professor from George Mason University, notes that Palin's speech has a North Dakotan flavor. He also suggests that she may exaggerate her Midwestern roots to be associated with Marge, the character from the movie "Fargo" who heroically solves everything.

Did I mention that "Fargo" is one of my favorite movies?

It's a bit off subject—but I thought you'd get a kick out of the Barenaked Ladies' song "Crazy ABCs," which plays around well with the different sounds letters may represent in English...they stretch a bit on occasion, but it's an amusing song.

Their myspace is here.
