The Department of Redundancy Department

Brought to you by the Birmingham-Bloomfield Eagle.

Because many of the planned cuts affect full-time staff, Wilkinson said the estimated 42 full-time equivalent jobs should ultimately impact 42 people.

That's pretty funny--unless there is a world in which 42 full-time-equvalent jobs are shared, and eliminating them would affect MORE people?

and of course a budget IS a plan (though maybe they mean a plan to do something TO a budget)

TootsNYC - Even considering the possibility of job shares, the way this was written was just too repetitive for me.

On a separate (and humorous but sad) note, when I opened the link to this page to respond to your comment I noticed the titles of the adsense ads that were placed with the post: Pfizer Cuts Jobs, Jobs Birmingham, and The 2009 BMW 3 Series. Like people will actually be out shopping for a BMW when they have lost their jobs.

Ah, redundancy in an attempt at clarity. Love it.

Can I just gripe about the verb 'impact'? I think 'affect' would read better here.
